Welcome to Wednesday Wisdom. Wednesday Wisdom is a weekly radio broadcast highlighting a story or poem that may bring insight or meaning to your day. Bill Jacquemin, who is a teacher of math and science as well as a Meteorologist and owner of The Connecticut Weather Center, Inc in Danbury, Connecticut, created Wednesday Wisdom. Bill explains how Wednesday Wisdom was created; Wednesday Wisdom began in the late 1990’s in Bethel Middle School in Bethel, CT. As an 8th grade Earth Science teacher I wanted to give my students more than just facts in Science or skills in Math. I wanted to share with them some insight or wisdom they could use for the rest of their lives. Each Wednesday I would pass out a story or poem to my students and we would read them together as a class. Sometimes the readings would bring new perspective to their life experiences but sometimes they would not immediately find any personal significance in them at all. I would encourage them to save the stories and poems to read at a later time. Often readings gain new significance over time and revisiting them later adds new meaning.I began Connecticut Weather Center, Inc. in 1985. One of our many services is to provide weather information to radio stations. On WICC 600 AM in Bridgeport, CT I started to read the Wednesday Wisdom pieces as a feature at each Wednesday’s 8:15AM weather. The response was tremendous. Listeners would frequently call or e-mail to ask for copies of the readings. I began compiling the readings, set to background music, and record them to CD to be able to share with everyone!
